This is a journey back to self, back to nature, back to roots.
I'm glad you're here.

I’m Lynette, the author here at Dear Wildflower.
Thanks for showing up. Like I said, I’m glad you’re here.
Dear Wildflower is a love letter to myself. It’s a constant doting and caring for. Fostering gentleness, kindness, and tenderness toward self, others, and planet.
Together, we have big goals of restoring 80 acres of Wisconsin land while sustainably feeding, watering, and sheltering myself and community. I invite you to be as involved as you’d like. Through donation and gifting, volunteering time and resources, or simply be reading along.
Through writing, I hope to encourage you to slow down, breathe, and be. There is beauty in the slow, in the mundane, in the everyday.
Again, thank you for being here. Reach out at any time. I’m so excited to hear from you.

An Invitation
Friends, I have a wild dream that I would no longer like to hold inside of me. I have visions that I would like to see turned into reality. I feel wildly vulnerable speaking it into existence in a blog of all places, but if you’ve been following along with my journey of self-discovery and are so inclined to entertain my deepest desires, please follow along. I am fortunate enough to be a landowner, in Rusk County, […]
No Assembly Required
I feel very strongly about improving myself and the planet and the Earth and society. About leaving things better than how they were found, doing the least bad and the most good. I tend to introspect and reflect and notice flaws and shortcomings and errors and every last wiggle room for improvement. And it’s exhausting. I’m tired. I’m worn and tattered from not being enough for myself. From not allowing others be enough either. At what point […]
On Celebration
Ahead of me and also behind me lies work. Effort. Labor of my heart, soul, body, and mind. There have been and will be milestones. Landmarks of accomplishments e.g. the first week without an anxiety attack. The first meal without getting sick. Telling my boss I am leaving at the end of the school year. Leaving at the end of the school year. The first fruit tree planted on the land. The first sale from the garden. […]
Wormies
Now I like worms, wormies, if you will. When I find one in the garden, I squeal with delight. I’ll lift it up, give it a little pat (sometimes even a kiss) and place it gently away from my sharp and dangerous efforts so it can peacefully squirm at a safe distance. When the rains flood the grass and form pools on the concrete, I rescue stranded ones that have made their damp way to pavement after a […]
Not Around Here, Partner
Your little shoulders weren’t meant to hold the weight they carried. It’s no wonder they are tired. It’s no wonder you’re tired. You’re safe now. You’ve created safety. You are no longer dependent on the people who let you down and left no room for error. You are tense and on guard because you had to be. No longer, Love. Your mistakes don’t yield consequences that you can’t fix. Your errors don’t lead you to a place […]
I think Bloodhound Gang was right.
Teachers and nurses and ER doctors probably all have something to say about a full moon. The strange energy in the air. The wild spike in unfortunate or injurious incidents. I personally have found myself imagining particularly unruly students as werewolves howling crazily at the bright full moon, their furry silhouettes becoming feral and wild and a little unhinged under the lunar glow. I asked my dad one time what he made of it, early in my […]
