I’m not going to lie to you. Something about March was funky. It wasn’t easy or natural to relish the small things, but here are some itty-bitties that I loved.
- Completing tasks on a to-do list
- Massaging sweet oil into my skin
- Prepping snacks for an outing
- When a seed pokes its lil head out of the soil to sprout
- A spoonful of sesame oil
- Eating food while it’s still dangerously hot
- Medjool dates
- Sharing something I love, a little piece of my soul, with another–usually it’s food, but it could be a song or a movie, a secret place in the woods or a favorite drive
- Fresh laundry, always and forever, how it’s soft and warm and smells sweet
- Lavender
- A clean table (I’m still dreaming of this, currently. Mine’s covered in clutter and half-finished projects.)
- Cleaning something really nasty–this month–my dog’s back teeth
- When Jasper, the aforementioned dog, climbs up on my lap when there isn’t room for him
- When any animal, small child, or breathing being rests their head on my arm or lap or shoulder or chest
- Houseplants
- When someone else does a task I’ve been dreading–when it’s no problem at all for them to love me in this way
- The sound of loons and geese and ducks and birds next to a pond or lake or creek or stream
- Watching snow fall out the window, cuddled in my big chair (It’s extra special with a critter on my lap.)
